DESCRIPTION:The International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste Reduc
 tion in Mitooma District aims to raise community consciousness on the urge
 nt need to reduce food waste and improve food security. This event brings 
 together farmers\, local leaders\, youth\, and women’s groups to underst
 and the economic\, social\, and environmental impacts of food loss. Partic
 ipants will engage in discussions on current practices\, challenges\, and 
 innovative solutions that can minimize waste from farm to market.\nPractic
 al workshops and demonstrations will form the core of the event\, highligh
 ting sustainable storage\, preservation techniques\, and value addition st
 rategies. Farmers will learn how to extend the shelf life of perishable cr
 ops\, improve post-harvest handling\, and adopt low-cost technologies that
  reduce losses and increase household income. The sessions will also empha
 size how community-level interventions can collectively address regional f
 ood insecurity.\nThe event will also feature a policy dialogue segment\, w
 here local authorities and community representatives discuss strategies fo
 r integrating food loss reduction into local development plans. By fosteri
 ng collaboration among stakeholders\, the initiative seeks to promote sust
 ainable food systems\, create awareness\, and inspire actionable change at
  both community and district levels.
