Taxation and Access to E-Mobility Technologies in Uganda Report
ππ Exciting developments in Uganda's e-mobility sector! Our latest report, "Taxation and Access to E-Mobility Technologies in Uganda," explores how taxation policies are shaping the future of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country. As of mid-2024, more than 44 electric four-wheel vehicles are registered, highlighting the need for more robust infrastructure and public awareness. The Ugandan government has introduced key tax incentives, including VAT exemptions and import duty waivers, aimed at making EVs more accessible. However, challenges like high initial costs and limited charging stations persist.Recent initiatives, such as the inauguration of two EV charging stations in Kampala and the ambitious plan to deploy 140,000 electric two-wheelers, mark significant steps towards a greener future. The inaugural e-Mobility Expo showcased the commitment to sustainable transport solutions, emphasizing collaboration among stakeholders. Our recommendations include enhancing infrastructure development, increasing public awareness, and strengthening policy frameworks to support the growth of e-mobility in Uganda.
