Press Statement on East Africa’s Energy Access and Affordability Crisis in Uganda

This press statement by Centre for Citizens Conserving Environment & Management (CECIC)  highlights the growing affordability crisis and widening energy access gap across East Africa. The statement calls upon governments within the East African Community to reform national budgetary processes by prioritizing affordable renewable energy access, social services, and people-centered development. It further emphasizes the need for transparent and inclusive budgeting that directly responds to the needs of ordinary citizens, especially rural and last-mile communities affected by energy poverty, unemployment, and rising living costs.
